In addition to the base polymer, EPDM contains reinforcing carbon black fillers, process chemicals, antioxidants and vulcanizing agents. After mixing the ingredients into ahomogenous plastic compound, two layers of the rubber are rolled out in a calendar toform a double sheet. Vulcanization is then carried out. The long rubber molecules in the material are cross-linked through heat and pressure, creating an elastic membrane.
EpiSPAN is available in 3 & 6m wide sheets in New Zealand and up to 15m wide ex factory. These wider sheets reduce laps, potential issues relating to lap application and installation time. In many occasions, we can provide a complete membrane roof without any laps at all giving you a more secure finished roof.
EPDM easily surpasses any other roofing material available today in terms of performance characteristics and long term weatherability. Excellent weather, ultra-violet, ozone resistance and full flexibilitybetween -50 to 150 degrees Celsius are only some of the properties which make EPDM the ideal roofing material for the extremes of the New Zealand climate.
EpiSPAN EPDM Fleece Back is ideally suited for re-roofing applications. The fleece back allows the membrane to be adhered to many surfaces such as torchon, bitumen, fibreglass, concrete and plywood. The fleece also allows for air entrapment to be eliminated between the membrane sheets which can potentially produce bubbling in the membrane. Available in a 3m wide sheet, EpiSPAN Fleece Back is able to be installed quickly, reducing installation costs.
